Looks like Price might be starting again tonight. Third start of the pre-season. Odd.

Karl Alzner also playing this evening.

Charles Hudon has to do something or it could be waivers for him.

Cale Fleury and Josh Brook continue their audition for a NHL roster sport.

I'd imagine that Carey will get one more tune-up game, besides this one.

Alzner plays,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,we lose.

Ya, not much there.

Yup, they're playing good right now.

Here's tonight's full Habs' lineup:

Tatar - Domi - Drouin
Hudon - Kotkaniemi - Armia
Cousins - Thompson - Belzile
Peca - Evans - Barber

Chiarot - Petry
Alzner - Brook
Kulak - Fleury

Price
Kinkaid

As for the Leafs, they've basically sent the Toronto Marlies to town as their best player in tonight's lineup is arguably Kenny Agostino.

i feel like he's actually had a pretty strong camp. Maybe not the results but he's look a lot better than he did pretty much all of last year.    If we want to have 3 scoring lines - and enough talent to play next to Domi, Danault and JK - we need a guy like Hudon to step up.

This kind of makes me think Fleury has the upper hand in the last RD race.  He gets to play next to one of our best (if not flashy) LHD.   Brook gets saddled with possibly our worst...

I hope Brook will know that it's his job to cover Alzner's butt.

I think the pairing was designed for Alzner to prove he can cover Brook butt, but Brook better be aware of who is on his left if he wants to continue to push for that spot. I also hope that Alzner plays well enough that either someone picks him up off waivers or his trade value goes up enough that a team will take a chance on him at a retained cap transaction but not well enough that CJ adds him to our roster lol.

Yeah tonight should be basically a tuneup game but did you see the projected Leafs lineup for Wednesday? If we play the split squad again we likely get creamed.

Kapanen – Tavares – Marner
Johnsson – Matthews – Nylander
Mikheyev – Kerfoot – Timashov
Moore – Gauthier – Spezza

 Muzzin – Barrie
Rielly – Ceci
Sandin – Marincin

i almost feel like its been designed as our top pair in Laval.

You think Alzner would win the top pairing in Laval over Leskinen or Sklenicka? I am not being sarcastic just surprised, I would have thought that if Alzner was sent to Laval he would be playing 2nd pair at best in more of a mentoring role.

Im not sure tbh.  For a while at least he was getting top pairing minutes there last year & I think Bouchard said he really thought his game was good at the AHL level. So who knows.

I agree that a guy like Leskinen has a considerably higher ceiling although in laval a lot of it is teaching specific skills/abilities - which is why Bouchard does things like play D men on their off sides or playing defensive guys on the PP or offensive guys on the PK.

I think Alzner will be in the top 4.  I could see Bouchard doing Alzner-Brook and Leskinen-Ouellette or something so that each rookie had a vet to line up next to, even though Leskinen-Brook may well be in the NHL before the end of the season.

yeah but it really doesn't matter ….I see Montreal winning tonight and Toronto playing all the guns for Wednesday because they'll be 1-4 and at home with an anxious crowd to please ...whether Montreal plays the opening day line-up or not is irrelevant ...it's been a good pre-season with some pleasant surprises ….they may well beat Toronto on Weds anyway split squad or not

I know it's the preseason and games don't matter but as a fan I want them to win every night LOL. I honestly don't think we will play the split squad on Wednesday anyway it's getting too close to the regular season. They will soon start setting the lines and trying to build chemistry.
