Cole "Goal" Caufield

CC still second in fan voting for the Hobey Baker Award to Colin Bilek.  CC with way better stats in a higher league. Again,  it's a good thing that fan voting only counts for a percentage of the final vote. CC was the clutch big time player for the Badgers this year in a year the team came together.

This guy is one that I am very excited to see play with us. if he can keep developing like he has he will be a great scoring winger for us!

He makes me think of Gally, but a sniper from the circles.

With USA Hockey's National Team Development Program in 2014-15, Auston Matthews set the United States Under-18 team records for a single season with 55 goals and 117 points (which broke Patrick Kane's 52 goals and 102 points in 2005-06). In 2018-19, Cole Caufield scored 72 goals and had 28 assists for 100 points. That's 17 more goals than Matthews. And CC has continued to have a more than stellar University career, against players usually up to 4 years older than him. So yeah.  I'm hanging on to CC and he will be a Hab this year!

I always think of Cammelleri - at his best - when I watch CC play.  Just finds the right spots and releases faster than just about anybody ive seen in ages.

I think Electron is referring to the fact that even CC is small he is also willing to go to the dirty areas to retrieve pucks. I have seen many of UW games where Caufiled is the first guy in on the forecheck and throws a check to try to dislodge the puck. While it is a pretty standard play and even if it does not work it at least shows CC knows his responsibilities go further than just finding quiet areas on the perimeter and he is willing to do what it takes to accomplish this.

Canadien prospect Cole Caufield was named first star of the week in the Big Ten conference after collecting four points in the Wisconsin Badgers' two wins at  Michigan. 2nd week in a row and 6th time in his 2 year NCAA career, CC's been named the first star.

I really really want to see the team take a bold step and try this kid out this year! he could be that injection of offence we need by a pure shooter. Gally can show him how to survive as a small guy lol!

Open ice, power plays, three on threes OT, and shoot-outs this kid has the skating ability to succeed and compliment his shot. The question mark will be those heavy games where open ice is at a premium. He certainly can take a hit and plays larger than his size indicates from what I have seen - it's just unlikely he wins battles for the puck like Gally.

The positive is he's playing in the NCAA . Where everyone you play against are men from 18-25. There's no padding your points playing against kids like the "over age" players in Juniors.

CC scored to tie the game, and then scored the game winner in overtime as the #1 ranked Wisconsin Badgers outlasted Penn State 5-4. Is CC a big game clutch player or what?

Yes he is and I can't wait to see him on the team now that we have a coach that is not going to try and turn him into a defensive checker!

2 more goals for Cole Caufield as Wisconsin hangs on for a 2-1 win over Michigan State.  CC finishes with 25 goals and 21 assists for an awesome 46 total points. Congrats to CC.

Ya know, I pulled up his stats and found he (in this year, 29GP), has 21G, 21A, 10 PPG, 7 GWG, and only 1 penalty.

Highlights in bold. Final regular season totals.

Caufield and the Badgers were defeated in the Big Ten Conference Final 6-4. Now the UW will likely be invited to the frozen four tournament which is also a single eliminatio format set to run April 8th-10th. So we may as well cheer him on to with the championship cause 2 days is not going to make a difference lol.

CC scored with 2:11 left in the 3rd period to bring the Badgers to within one goal, but they couldn't get the equalizer. So that gives CC 28 goals & 21 assists for 49 points including the 2 playoff games. Wisconsin outshot Minnesota 46 to 28.  Go CC!

Cole Caufield and the University of Wisconsin men’s hockey team will be doing some ice dancing.

UW was seeded No. 1 in the NCAA Tournament’s East Regional Sunday night. The Badgers (20-9-1) will face Bemidji State (15-9-3) on Friday at noon at the Webster Bank Arena in Bridgeport, Connecticut.

Wisconsin hasn’t been in the NCAA Tournament since 2014. The Badgers are 7-0 all-time against the Beavers.

Badgers coach Tony Granato will be making his first NCAA appearance as either a player or a coach.

The winner will face UMass (16-5-4) or Lake Superior State (19-6-3) for the regional championship on Saturday at 3 p.m.

Couldn't find a better place to put this. Harris and Northeastern are officially done their NCAA season, how long before Harris is signed and does he get a shot?

My guess is he gets signed this week.  I feel like he wont get a shot with the big club right away. Probably goes to Laval.  I think its unlikely he moves up this year but you never know, maybe he plays so well he forces them to call him up but that seems unlikely.

Even though I am still holding out hope he is a dark horse to be a top 4 dman for this team, i think its going to take time. At least a year or two with Bouchard imho.

I agree but I was wondering if the Habs would consider him an upgrade on either Kulak, Mete or Edmundson (highly doubt it) especially if he goes to Laval and starts putting up points at a PPG pace again. Imagine if he was able to step right into our top 4, how much better does our D look with Kulak slotted back with Romanov! Ideally we would run

Romanov-Weber

Kulak-Petry

Harris-Edmundson

or even put Harris on the right side of the 3rd pairing as he has played there before. Point is we would have a much stronger D core with him in over Mete or Ouellet.

Interesting - I wasn't sure how much Edmundson has played on the right side and asking Harris to play the right at the NHL Level is a big ask respecting your assumption that he starts well at Laval.  I just hope we don't Ryan McDonagh him, and give him time to develop. I would rather see Josh Brook be given that opportunity.

Edmundson, I believe has played a decent amount on the right side in St. Louis

The problem with this scenario is that despite our hopes it looks like our coaching staff is not much different than when Julien was here.  Sure Romanov was given a game or two and JK got a few more opportunities but for the most part its been "play vets in the top 4" and "go back to Tatar-Danault-Gallagher" when possible.

I cant see them using Romanov, Kulak and Harris in our top 6 even thought they might well be 3 of our top 6 dmen.
