Me too he was in the mix a lot tonight and some good shots on net, it will come not worried at all.

The thing that impressed me most in the playoffs was his vision.  I thought we were getting another Mike Cammaleri type player - great shot, great release - but Cole has an elite-level vision.  I think we're going to be surprised how many assists he gets over his career. I dont think the "goal" nickname will be his only claim to fame ;)

I agree his passing was next level during the playoffs, the whole team is in a funk right now so a guy Like Cole has a hard time showing what he can do if his linemates are not on form.

Cole Caufield is the fifth player in NHL history to score a tying goal in the final 10 seconds of regulation and score the overtime winner. :freu1:

Only Mikael Granlund (2020), Marian Gaborik (2014), Marco Sturm (2000), and Neal Broten (1983) have done so. Caufield has scored the most overtime goals by a Canadiens’ rookie (three).

Yep I think Cole has got his groove back! The coaching change has been a breath of fresh air for the team in general as well you can see the guys are enjoying the game so much more! I don't want to pile on with DD but I think he got it in his head that his way was the only way and it just did not work in a funny way MSL's lack of experience means he has to listen to the other guys behind the bench and the collaboration is working well at the moment.

If you extrapolate Caufield's stats during his time with MSL as coach over a full season, he would be on track for over 50 goals and 105 points. It's legitimate to question how he only scored once under Ducharme and what that means about how bad a coach Ducharme is.

If CC was only put on the 3/4 line with pluggers, he couldn't expect to pot very many goals.

I was just coming on to post the same thing! he is a legit potential 40-50 goal man and he had rookie of the year stolen from him by DD! such a shame!

Maybe he'll give AM a run for the Richard trophy next year.

Yeah. The decision to fire Julien and put in Ducharme gets more and more dubious. Ducharme seems like he was a terrible, terrible coach. I mean, it's clear the entire team gave up on him in one playoff run and 10-15 games to begin this season.

Hot streak continues. Does he have enough games left to challenge for ROTY??

He should be in the mix. I'm just hoping that NHL.com picks him as 1 of the 3 stars of the week.

not enough games imho.  If he keeps this up he'll be in top 4-5  - maybe even top 3 - but I dont see anyone really challenging Seider at this point.  42 points in 60 or so games as a rookie dman?  A tough season to be beat.

I could see him challenging in goals though.  He's 7th (13g) but just 17 games ago he had 1 goal.   He's scored 12 goals in 17 games under MSL.  At that pace, he would score 14 more for a total of 27 goals... right now Jeannot (21) and Bunting (20) are the only guys with more than 20 goals.

Would be quite the feat if he manages to break 25 goals after scoring only 1 in the first 1/2 of the season or so.

He sure can score! he is the first guy since Richer that I think could score 50 for us. Our first line of Zuke CC Anderson could be devastating next year! with good coaching and a system that lets them play the game it should be fun for a change!

Too bad Marty wasn't here from the get-go. Things would be different.

Ducharme had reasonable junior coaching credentials (horrible playoff record except his 2012-14 Mooseheads team where he likely just opened the door for Drouin Mackinnon, Weegar, Ehlers etc)., and was a coach in waiting under Julien for 2 1/2 years. For a GM who was supposed to be close to his players, Bergevin seriously misjudged the coach and we all paid for it.

Just a huge relief, I assume I wasn't the only one worried that those playoffs were an anomaly and he was basically going to be a bust: talented player who couldn't adjust to the NHL game.

The biggest thing isn't just that he's scoring goals and getting points, but he actually looks good out there. He's never going to be as well rounded as someone like Suzuki, but he looks confident and is making smart plays with the puck.

One interest point DownGoesBrown brought up on one of his podcasts is voters do have a bit of a recency bias: there could be a big difference between starting hot and finishing hot.

With that said, it's definitely a huge longshot, but I threw down $5 on it a few weeks back.
