ramcharger440
So a few games in and it seems some other person is wearing #92, will it last? he sure seems to be making every effort to play a complete game even when he gets moved around the lines he still seems to be giving it his all.i for one am happy for him and hope he can keep going. Small sample size and all, but, he does appear to have his head in the game. It certainly is an upgrade from last year.
Habberwacky
Maturity can be magical especially if it lasts. We have a lot of young talent and Drouin appears to be feeling the peer pressure which is great to see. He has all the skills necessary to do a great job and may be figuring out that you have to use them every night to be great. I hope it lasts cause Montreal is not very forgiving market. He may be able to inspire some future flying French Canadians to return to the game and that would be great to see.
ChiLla
I‘m really impressed, Drouin plays like the guy I thought we‘d be getting when we traded for him. He‘s probably been our best forward this season, and it was nice to see the standing ovation from the Bell Centre crowd after the Blues game. I‘m rooting for him and really hope he just keeps going, the talent was always there.

If he continues to play like this then the trade is definitely a huge win for us, even if it took a few years to come to fruition. I feel like the attention that Drouin is getting will feed & fuel his fire. I think he's for real.
jennifer_rocket
I'm happy to see he's had a good start to the season. Let's try to remember that if he has a bad stretch. No one on this team is going to perform great for the entire season, Drouin included. But if he has, indeed, made incremental improvements to his overall play, I'm happy to see him get some love from the crowd.

I love JK and would consider him nearly 'untouchable' but if Carolina offered us Aho and Svechnikov for him, we'd be nuts not to take it.

I still wouldn't just toss out Drouin like a lot had suggested early on and it's not fair to judge the worth of the player by whom they were traded for. The player has nothing to do with who they get traded for. A free agent does have everything to with how much they ask for or where they choose to play. And while I mentioned Drouin (and many others) in trade proposals this summer none were for limited return. If we were moving Drouin in my scenarios we were getting back a top pairing LHD in every case.

I also had mentioned Drouin in some trade scenarios but for either a #1 LHD or a top 6 goal scoring winger. I don't think anyone offered a trade that didn't bring back at least some sort of top player. I don't recall anyone offering Drouin for picks or prospects or for a bottom 6 forward or bottom 4 dman or even any combination of the aforementioned. tony5775
As I have stated on here many times. Drouin is without a doubt the most talented player on the team. You do not give those guys away until you have exhausted all avenues to find the right place for that player. We will see if you all stay on the band wagon when he has a bad game or two. If he has 10 bad games but still maintains he effort through the entire season I don't think anyone will mind keeping him. It's when he starts to get lazy defensively that will have everyone including yours truly calling for a trade.

Brendan Gallagher has droughts but people generally dont get on him because even when he's not scoring he's creating something. Drouin not scoring (prior to this year anyway) was basically invisible. If he keeps up this effort & intensity, then even if he isnt scoring, he's going to be well liked because he'll still be doing something, even if its not working. There were times last year when, if he wasnt scoring, he was actively hurting us.

Personally I love the new Drouin, Kotkaniemi and him seem to be building great chemistry and would be a true #1 line in the future that would be hard to stop if Drouin does maintain this level of compete and intensity. Armia also seems like he is coming into his own at the perfect time for that line.

Drouin - JK - Caufield Domi - Suzuki - Gallagher Lehkonen - Poehling - Armia Thats a dominant top 9 (assuming they do grow into the roles we're hoping they do). ChiLla
Not sure where all the talk about fairness and bandwagons is coming from. Nobody ever doubted Drouin’s talent, fact is though that he hasn’t fulfilled expectations, especially last season with his major slump towards the end. I’m really hoping he keeps this up and turns out to be the player he can be. If he doesn’t, the trade talk will certainly resurface like with every other player that has value and doesn’t reach his full potential.

I don't even care if he goes through another 26 game slump like last year as long as he keeps his effort and intensity up the stats will take care of themselves. ChiLla
Ugh, 8 weeks without him is gonna be tough. Hopefully Kotkaniemi/Poehling/Hudon/Evans can jump in with some offence while Drouin and Byron are gone.

In fairness though we had a lot of injuries. It wasnt just Drouin & Byron. As well as Drouin and Byron missing 33 games, Armia missed 13, Gallagher 10, Kotkaniemi missed 15, Thats 2 of your top 4 LW, two of your top 3 RW, one of your top 3 C. Thats pretty substantial. Not many teams could recover from that. We also had injuries on the blueline and some of the call ups got injured when replacing players! Im not saying that we are good team. We're still probably a bubble team if everyone is healthy but we arent two 8 game losing streaks bad if we dont get hit with that many injuries to that many key players.
