COME ONE, COME ALL, TO THE BIG GAME TONITE DOWN IN TAMPA

Sat, Dec 28  7:00 PM ET  Montreal @ Tampa Bay  SN360, CITY, SNE, TVAS, SUN TSN 690 Radio.

DETAILS

Carey  backstopped Montreal to three wins on their four-game road trip and has won six of his last eight starts. Andrei Vasilevskiy, last year’s Vézina winner, has a 15-9-2 record with a 2.81 GAA and a .908 SP.

The top line of Brendan Gallagher, Phil Danault and Tomas Tatar lead the offence. Tatar and Danault each scored twice in Monday’s 6-2 win over Winnipeg. Tatar leads the team with 32 points and he and Gallagher each have a team-high 15 goals. Captain Shea Weber (30 points) is tied for fifth among NHL defencemen. Max Domi has regained his scoring touch after notching three goals and adding three assists in the past three games.

The good news is Jesperi Kotkaniemi will be back in the lineup for the first time since he suffered a concussion on Dec. 5. Kotkaniemi will be the centre on the third line with Nick Cousins and Jordan Weal.

Tampa ranks third in offence (3.51 goals a game), but is 23rd in defence (3.17 goals a game). Nikita Kucherov, last season’s most valuable player and leading scorer, has 40 points, including 13 goals, while Steven Stamkos has 13 goals and 32 points. The team’s leading goal-scorer is Brayden Point (14), while Montrealer Alex Killorn has 11. Former Canadiens defenceman Mikhail Sergachev has six goals and 19 points.
