kinot-2
TONITE ON NEW YEARS EVE, WE END THE YEAR IN CAROLINA, WHERE WE TAKE ON THE CAROLINA CANDY Tue, Dec 31 7:00 PM ET Montreal @ Carolina FS-CR, TSN2, RDS, tsn rADIO 690 Montreal has dropped three of its last four games overall. The Canadiens will wrap up a seven-game road trip in Raleigh, hoping to get back on the winning path. They are sitting at the fifth spot of the Atlantic Division, three points behind the third-placed Florida Panthers. On the other side, the Hurricanes snapped a three-game losing streak on Saturday night. They are fifth in the Metropolitan Division, two points behind the third-placed Pittsburgh Penguins. The Canadiens fell apart defensively over the weekend The Canadiens had a back-to-back set this past weekend, and it went pretty bad. First, they suffered a 5-4 defeat at the Tampa Bay Lightning despite a 2-0 lead in the first period. The Canadiens allowed the Lightning to score four straight goals in just 13 minutes, and they did a similar thing in Sunrise the next day. Montreal was 2-0 down after six minutes into the first period against the Panthers, but after a couple of minutes of play n the second period, the Canadiens had a 3-2 lead. Then, the Canadiens allowed four straight goals to the Panthers and suffered a tough 6-5 loss in the end. Montreal is 25th in the league in goals against (3.26). The Canadiens are 25th in penalty killing, too (76.5%), so they need to improve defensively as soon as possible. Carey Price has guarded the cage in the last seven games, and a 12-year veteran is 16-13-3 this season with a 3.03 GAA and a .901 save percentage. Rookie Cayden Primeau has got a chance to back up Price, and he’s 1-1-0 with a 2.52 GAA and a .931 save percentage. Winger Tomas Tatar (G16, A19) leads the way for the Canadiens, and he’s scored three goals along with a pair of dishes in the last three outings. Brendan Gallagher (G15, A17) has recorded four assists over the last three games, while Phillip Danault (G10, A20) is the best assist-maker in this Montreal team. The Canadiens are 10th in the league in goals scored per game (3.28) and 1st in shots taken per game (35.6). Their power-play percentage is the sixth-best in the NHL (24.3%). Here's hoping we can lick them.

Habberwacky
A win gives us a 4-3 road trip, which is a bit of a disappointment. We need to start winning some home games after this but are only .500 at home this year. I would have preferred calling up Primeau for this one. Missing Armia, Drouin and Byron is like taking out a good third line with two of them playing in the top six. Hopefully some of the bounces go our way tonight. The last two games we didn't get any breaks.
