Confirmed reports that Kovy will play tonight. Practised on the 1st wave powerplay today. Is Weal in danger of losing his spot?

Tatar - Danault - Kovalchuk
Lehkonen - Domi - Suzuki
Poehling - Kotkaniemi - Cousins
Weise - Thompson - Weal
Vejdemo - Peca

Chiarot - Weber
Scandella - Petry
Mete - Fleury
Kulak

Hey if he can keep up and still get some shots off he will be ok i just worry he will fade as the game goes on. he was an extreme talent he may have one more gasp in him?

I don't think he will see too many breakaways but I can see him being effective as a net front presence and a pure shooter on the PP.

Will be very interesting on kovy tonight - are they trying to set him up for success by appointing him on first line and pp?
Did he earn those spots or is it a safe distraction to take pressure off the kids

Both for sure! why not if it works the coach looks like a genius if not it was worth a shot no real harm one way or the other. and Kovy can't say he did not get a fair shot.

The thing about Kovy is that he was never the model of consistency.  Even in his prime he'd go from a nearly 100 point season down to a 75 pointer and then back up to 90.  In Jersey he had a 60 point year & people said he was done. Then the next year he was back up to over a PPG pace.

He left the KHL at over a PPG and in LA he put up a (prorated) 45 point year.  So... can he bounce back with us to a 60 point season?  Age is a factor obviously (he'll never score 90 points again) but with the right linemates i dont think 50+ is out of the question.   He's already on pace for a 45 point (prorated) year this season anyway.  I think he can be a useful player although ideally he'd be on your 3rd line (somewhat sheltered) rather than your first if everyone was healthy.

When I think of the size of the bet I made on that incorrect information......

Getting so sick of seeing guys kicked out of the faceoff circle because the refs just can't seem to drop the puck .

Maybe they collect inch worms..Ever think of that?
