  1. 1. If the NHL adopts this format are you for or against it?

im for it NOW because I just heard the draft lottery is going to happen June 26, and the "play-in" teams (including Montreal) are still part of the lottery.

Now i can daydream about winning the lottery AND the stanley cup!

Realistically I can see an announcement about the draft being held the 1st week or 2 of July coming in the next week for 2 reasons. 1. The lottery and Draft can increase the excitement for the impending playoffs. 2. Why else would they hold the lottery before the season is even resumed. The announcement of the lottery seems to me as more of a warning that to the GM's that they are close to having the draft rules set and a date will be coming soon so be prepared to move quickly you are only going to have about a month to prepare.

I think they will revert back to the 2012 format and only pull one winner so we will pick 4th to 9th then of course win the cup!!!!

According to the Gazzet Romanov and players like him will not be allowed to play in the playoffs. Daly called them "Ringers" saying it was unfair to other teams. I am not sure how Romanov can be called a ringer after only being drafted 2 years ago but OK.

I don't get it. He was signed to an ELC, what, 2 weeks ago?

Thats really odd.   Gavrikov did the exact same thing with Columbus last year - signing as soon as his KHL contract was up - and playing some games for them in the playoffs.

I know this year is (obviously) hugely different from anything we've seen but you'd think with a precedence already set...

Regardless, Its probably not a bad thing - could you imagine the pressure on the kid to be our "saviour?"      On (somewhat) related note: Juulsen finally appears to be 100%. He said he feels better than he 'ever has' so hopefully he's finally turned that corner for good.

And only 3 Eastern Conference teams are potential hubs as well TO, Pittsburgh  and Columbus

I don't understand how T.O. hits that list. The center of the virus cases in Ontario are currently in Toronto. Makes no sense to me. If they want it in Canada they should be considering Provinces with few cases like N.B. How about a place like Halifax?

Could be a good idea! As long as the ice surface is the right quality, playing in a smaller city like Halifax could be a very sensible choice.

The NHL criteria is the it has to be a world class arena in which a current NHL  team plays. That's why they are only considering NHL cities

Just wait until the officials call all the players onto the ice to skate around to clear the fog.

I feel like I also heard today that there would need to be hotel suites available that are up to a certain standard near to the arena chosen.

Wouldn't it be unfair to the visiting teams that they can't go back home to be with their families, but the home cities players could?

It's possible all teams might just be stuck at the hockey rink and the hotel, no? They might say, "no contact with anyone outside of the team and staff until you're eliminated." I'm just speculating, but yeah... I s'pose that could be a thing.

the play-offs should be from a city not in the running ...Ottawa , San Jose , Detroit , LA , Ana . NJ , Buff ...but we know that won't happen

That way it makes it fair to all.

Little Caesars in Detroit is only a couple of years old and has a full practice rink below the main rink.

Actually they are saying that families may be allowed to quarantine with the players and staff but all 12 teams and families would have to be housed in 1-3 hoteĺs for the duration of their playoff runs. They also have to procure eating establishments near the arena that would be quarantined as well, so no public access at all not even deliveries to the public to prevent contamination.

I won't shed one tear if they don't get to see their family for maybe a couple months. There are a lot of jobs that people are gone for extended periods of time and the workers aren't spoiled in top notch hotels and making millions. So yes it may be unfortunate if it does happen but it's not the end of the world.

Like Gally said on TSN radio today that it's not too much different than going on a 2 week road trip.
