ID say 95 because I think we actually had a better roster a couple of years later (just didnt have that magic run like in 93) but then Houle happened. How do you go from Turgeon, Damphouse, Koivu, Roy, Recchi, etc to... what we ended up with.   As bad as MB has been at times, no one compares to Rejean Houle for sheer ability to take a great roster and destroy it to a point where it took a couple of decades to get it back to respectability.

What about 2008?  I thought we had a chance that year.

Me too, that was a good team. It's just that the wheels fell off after losing Lang and Tanguay to season-ending injuries (if memory serves). Wasn't that the year of the dreaded Barbershop jerseys?

Didn't we give up a first round pick & a scond round pick for Tanguay and then not qualify him? He was still somewhat of a productive player after that for a few years. Bad ass management.

Tremblay did a ton of damage in the short time (2 years) he was coach for sure. But Houle... 5 years... that set us back at least 12-15 years.   Considering the assets we had... what he turned them into...and omg those throw ins.   It wasnt bad enough to trade Turgeon for Baron & Corson (and i LOVE Shayne Corson, he's a friend and was always one of my favourite habs, but holy crap that was a bad move) - but we also added Craig Conroy and Rory Fitzpatrick as "throw ins" - both of whom went on to have decent mid-level NHL careers.

And who can forget Ron Corey. (I thought I did) He's the pylon that put it all in motion.

Not a fan of this signing. He’s good. But will slow the team down. He’s got some weaker advanced statistics to my knowledge. If he’s third line I’m content. Just not sure where he fits in, as it seems the Habs are moving Daneault more to centre ice and defensive zone face off shifts. I just don’t get where he fits in the lineup. I guess he’s on the top two scoring lines. But doesn’t he slot in behind Gally and Anderson (according to his contract numbers)?

He is looking better every game i think he may be a key pick up moving forward kind of like getting Tuna a good solid goal scorer.

He is improving. He was bad the first two games. Before last night the worst of all 12 forwards. Patience paid off.

great shooting

You noticed too? Maybe jitters. He sure looks relaxed now. & producing.👍

Yes. And he’s playing much better D now too. Looking good. If he is playing solid D and going to be be a 20 goal scorer in a shortened season , then dang, he’s what we all hoped. And at a good price also. I was surprised he was available for under 5 million with his productivity and entering his prime.

I know it's early, but... It's neat to see someone on Montreal near the top of the league in points. And tied for first in goals.

I know! I am so used to the wheels falling off that I still kind of expect it but we have real depth this year! look we just lost Armia and we are replacing him with Perry who is older now but no slug at all! we have a shot here to do some real damage i hope we all play at our potential because it has been a long time since we and any real shot at doing a few rounds in the spring.

I think the last time, this far into the season was Lars Eller when he had like 10 points in his first 7 games one year & peopler were saying he was Malkin 2.0.  Oops.

Bergevin's big signings appear to be panning out well. The man with the Midas touch. Teams are going to have a hard time stopping the four lines we can roll with. It will be interesting to see what Perry can do tonight as I believe he is in for Armia. Toffoli may be on pace for career highs in a shortened season

I wouldn't be surprised to see Frolik in there next game ...may be take Byron's spot ..Calgary will play heavier than Edm and Van

Unless we trade someone (or send someone down) thats probably not happening.

We dont have the salary space to just bring up Frolik, even at the tiny bit we are paying him - unless you mean instead of perry but considering how well he played, i think thats unlikely.   We would have to waive someone (Minors or taxi squad) trade someone (without taking back salary) or put someone on the LTIR.

Cap management is going to be a major hurdle this year considering how close we are to the limit.
