I love positivity!!! (this board needs more) I'll say 5-2 HABS!!!

I actually think this team is only a couple of good wins away from a strong streak again.   They just need their confidence back.  There's more talent up front than we've had in 20+ years.  Our goaltending is looking solid again.  And even our biggest problem (defense) is a) not as bad as it seems if we just use players a little more effectively and b) continue to play a fast offence-based game.   The opposition cant score if they are trying to defend against you all game.

I agree with this 100% I just wish we could figure out which team we really have here, they are like Jekyl and Hyde! if we had the 1 extra top tier LHD I think we would be a very good team. if our centers continue to develop and CC can come in and add a bit more goal scoring from the wings we are solid. of course we will have to start replacing some of our older players like all teams do but we have an interesting core of younger players here and on the way.

Price in goal again tonight. No line-up changes according to Ducharme.

Does that mean Byron is playing? Also, interesting about CP playing a lot. So, Waite told Management,  that CP would not be as effective playing fewer games. So what happens? Waite gets fired and the Habs start playing CP more often. So Waite, Julien & Muller all get canned, probably,  because of what I think was Bergevin 's decision to rest CP more. Funny how that works out.  After all,  it is ultimately Bergy's job on the line.

I think a lot of the reason the defense looked better last game is the forwards were back farther giving the defense the shorter passes and just more support. When the forwards "jump" to soon and leave the zone to early is when it breaks down a lot more. Short moving passes almost always work better than the long bomb stretch passes.

I don't underestimate the jets - their power play is sharp, and their top 6 forwards with Dubois now match up very well against most any team. I hope we can stay out of the pbox, and the Zebras let the players play.  Anticipating this game will be physical and Dubois continues to hit Suzuki. I hope we can can pound them right back but sometimes I overestimate les habs. Perhaps Price can steal another game as this would be huge for our momentum.

If you believe the rumors that Price was playing less intensely because he wanted a coaching change (i dont - i think he's too much of a pro for that - but i also could believe he was not happy with the system and being upset could affect a goalie - a position that has very little room for error)  - but lets just pretend we believe it.

Price forces MB's hand with his play so MB fires Julien/Muller but then as a "im still in charge" statement to Price, fires Waite.  It sounds like Price was caught off guard (and not particularly happy about that).   The conspiracy theorists will note that Price started playing much better immediately after the firing, before Burke even had time to do anything with him.

Anyway, this is all 100% speculation but interesting to think about.

For sure they are no pushover. We need to be at our best but I think if we are - all 4 lines playing well and all 3 defense pairings playing simple, effective hockey, we can win.

As i stated earlier,,,, Price has traditionally started slow. The difference this year is that he has a capable backup to carry the load  until he finds his game. He hasn't really played more then he was earlier,,, yet. Because he's stopped giving up those weak goals in his last few starts i can see him getting more then the 2 to 1 ratio he was getting earlier (maybe 3 to 1) but i don't expect him to get much more then that when were playing every other night for pretty much the rest of the season. I imagine Allen gets the next start Friday and then Price gets the Sat. start.

- Burke was apparently helping with tips and advice via video, even though he isn't here in person. Who knows who had what impact on Price.

- Price also played poorly at the end of Therrien's regime and played much better after Julien was hired. I honestly think it's just the fact that he got a wake-up call from the firings more than anything else. He's been a high-level goalie for a long time, I don't think he suddenly forgot technique after 15 years. I think Price just plays in a way that's non-chalant frequently and sometimes he needs a reminder that he can't get into a funk of only getting up for the important games.
