campabee82
It's gut check time this game could make or break our season. We either move 6 points up on the Flames with the chance to eliminate the Flames (as according to ESPN their tragic number is down to 8, see link) tomorrow vs the Sens or we lose this one and allow the Flames back in the race. Going to predict a 3-2 win (in regulation) and hope it works out that way. https://www.espn.com/nhl/story/_/id/31364092/nhl-playoff-watch-daily-montreal-canadiens-look-extend-their-lead
HabsAlways
Apparently playing Kotkaniemi on wing again ... like, he's better than Suzuki was faceoffs, better in his own end too ... why not move Suzuki to wing
HabsAlways
Ok mind you ... remembering that Tatar, Drouin, Gallagher are out ... these lines then make more sense ... except that has to be the slowest 4th line in the NHL Here's a look at the lines and D pairings featured at Thursday's practice: Kotkaniemi - Danault - Anderson Toffoli - Suzuki - Armia Lehkonen - Evans - Caufield Frolik - Staal - Perry Chiarot - Weber Edmundson - Petry Romanov - Merrill Kulak, Gustafsson, Ouellet Allen Primeau Lindgren

It still makes little sense to me to put JK on the wing & bump Evans up into the top 9 but I assume this means DD wants to get Danault/Suzuki lines matching up against the top 2 winterpeg lines. I still say our defense is the bigger issue. Chairot should be nowhere near the top 4. Weber should ideally be back on the second pair. Id like to see how Merrill-Weber work and even just going back to Weber-Kulak was better.
BigTed3
Habs didn't practice today (other than Allen, Kulak, and Ouellet showing up for an optional skate) and Ducharme gave no news on his lines, so still conceivable that Tatar or Byron gets into the game. Ducharme also said he was considering changes to his D corps. Hopefully he comes to his sense and brings Kulak in for Chiarot, but unlikely that will happen. Much more likely he does something that doesn't help, like swap Chiarot for Edmundson in the top 4 or replace Merrill or Romanov with Gustafsson... BigTed3
Weber out with an upper body injury tonight. Tatar and Byron also confirmed out. Gustafsson in for Weber as Kulak sits once again. That last part is completely inexplicable...

Unfortunately the changes would likely all be on the 3rd pair, not where they need to be. 5 minutes ago, BigTed3 said: Weber out with an upper body injury tonight. Tatar and Byron also confirmed out. Is it load management? Or is it just a new injury. Who knows. I get that Gustaffson has looked pretty good in a small sample size (and at least he can skate) but yeah, if there are not other changes Kulak should be in. Heck he should have been in the whole time.

Who knows? The problem with Suzuki on the wing is that he's a RHS. We already (even with Gallagher out) have Anderson, Caufield, Armia and Perry at RW. I know some of those guys can play LW but all are more productive at left.
