CaptWelly
Vegas has a deep team with speed and size. I do think now though we can roll a team to match them. If we get contributions from all 4 lines and Price continues to play well we should be okay. I actually think our defense matches up better against Vegas than Colorado's did. We won't get pushed around as much. I also love watching how Hockey is proven to be a team sport.....Crosby, Ovi, McChicken,Mathews,Macinnon ..............all gone!!!! Says he likes hockey less and less and wants to support the French culture more than he cares about seeing a winning team. Sound reasoning. We have more redheads than both Toronto and Winnipeg. I heard they are targeting redheads in the offseason and will do whatever it takes to get them. What a dolt.

And this is exactly why there should be no rules about having a French requirement to play for or coach the Habs. Again, nice if you can do it without sacrificing success, but it's attitude like this that prove the whole requirement thing is purely politically-motivated. Very disappointing and irresponsible for a public figure to come out and say something like that. He should be in a mental hospital, and not a "talk show host". maas_art
This series is going to be really interesting. Going into the playoffs i thought we would be ok against TO (they gave me a scare with their 3 wins in a row) and in 6 of the 7 games we managed to keep the M&M line as a non-factor. In Winnepeg I thought we had the better overall team but was worried a little they could beat us on goaltending. But with Vegas its a tough call. They match up very well against us - up front they have 4 strong lines (like us) but with higher end talent (at least right now) on their top lines. Its possible, if our kids up their game we win that matchup, but vets like Stone and Patches are going to be tough to beat. Really curious how DD line-matches. Interestingly though, as good as their forwards are as a group, i like our centres more. Stephenson-Karlsson-Roy-Kolesar is not as good as Suzuki-Danault-JK-Staal imho. I also like our 4th line against theirs Carrier-Kolesar-Reaves are going to be a big heavy line but i think Armia-Staal-Perry may be up to the task. Their top 4 is scary. Pietrangelo, Theodore, Martinez and (to a lesser extent) McNabb. Holden & Whitecloud need to be exploited & i dont think Vegas is shortening their bench the way montreal has been. The big matchup is going to be in nets though. Fleury has looked shaky at times in the games ive seen. He still makes the impossible saves but often lets in floaters. If price keeps playing as he has i think we win this matchup.I believe we can beat them. I think its going to be a tough series & the guys are going to come out of it with a lot of bumps and bruises but i still think habs in 6.

PuckPundit
What do you think: 1. Will Ryan Reeves or another Vegas player try to run Price out of the series? 2. Will we finally see Ben Chiarot drop the gloves in this series? 3. How many Habs injuries will there be in a hard hitting physical contest with Vegas? 4. How many goals will Max Pacioretty score against the Habs? 5. Will Price's form finally regress, having to fend off a never-ending barrage of Vegas shots match after match? ramcharger440
So this is going to be a tough one! the Knights are probably a better team in every department other than in net. We have nothing to lose we are further along than anyone thought we would be and the young guns are getting the experience they need, the hope is that Romanov is slotted in for his hits and speed but we will see. We could win this but it will require everything falling into place again which would be crazy! In my opinion we will have to hit them a lot and early and get a couple of quick goals to get into their heads to have a shot at this because on paper they are better than us but if a couple of their key guys go down and we manage to stay healthy you never know! For me as long as they play hard and don't fold I will be happy I want to win but it is going to be tough!

How about these questions instead. How many goals will Caufield score this series 5 or more? Will Price save percentage increase to .950 or .960 after this series How many goals will Tofu have 10 or more after this series? Will it be Stone or Patches limping off the ice after a thunderous hit by Weber in game one? Which game will Vegas almost win 3 or 4?

For me as long as they play hard and don't fold I will be happy I want to win but it is going to be tough! I'm not sure the Knights are better everywhere. In fact, I'd say a lot of areas are toss-ups. Price has played better than MAF in the playoffs this year but Fleury had a better season. I think either guy could shine or fumble, and both teams have strong back-ups if they do. The only reason I'll say advantage Habs here is because we've been able to phase Fleury when he played for the Pens, so I wonder if he has added pressure playing Montreal, especially if we have fans getting on him in our building. On D, I think the top end clearly favors Vegas. I think Petry and Pietrangelo if Petry were healthy would be reasonably even. But Theodore is better than anyone we have. The bottom of our D isn't any better or worse than theirs though. Martinez, McNabb, Holden, Whitecloud... not a lot between that and something like Chiarot, Edmundson, Romanov, Kulak. Again, I think the major issue is that we don't have a 2nd top-tier guy after Petry and we could get hurt if they exploit someone like Merrill. Up front, again the top end of their wing situation is better. Stone and Pacioretty are better wingers than we have in general, but go down the rest and to me Anderson vs Tuch is a wash if Anderson is able to play like he did in the regular season. Toffoli, Gallagher, and Caufield can stack up against the likes of Reilly Smith and Marchessault. And our bottom 6 might be better than theirs, if the Staal line can continue their O-zone cycle and we get production from the likes of Evans and Lehkonen and Armia again. Where we might actually have an advantage is center. Stephenson is their #1 guy and he's frankly not a #1. Karlsson is a strong #2 but he's dropped off from his breakout year a bit. Their bottom 6 centers are really bottom 6 centers. So if Suzuki is on his game like he was down the stretch, I think he's the best center in this series, and I think Kotkaniemi has the potential to match Karlsson and Danault is something they don't have. If Danault's line and Price can negate the Stone-Stephenson-Pacioretty line the way they shut down the Matthews line, I think we have an advantage looking at our remaining 9 forwards vs theirs and I think we have a slight advantage in net. IMO, we have to live with the Karlsson line doing some amount of damage, but the keys to us winning are 1. Price maintaining his level of play. 2. Danault keeping the Stephenson line at bay. 3. Our D being able to provide something offensively that keeps us close to what Vegas will get from their top 2.
