Thank God no Lee because he was brutal once more in the other series tonight. How does this guy continue to hold down a job??

Officials union?

I've a bad feeling there will be a Game 7 .

1. Every team plays its best hockey when it's most desperate to avoid elimination.  To be honest, we had really never watched Vegas play with urgency or desperation throughout the series so far.  There's nothing to hold back now and they have to put everything on the line and go all out.

2. Robin Lehner.  I'm 100% certain Lehner will start Game 6.  Same reason as Game 4 - DeBoer doesn't want to put Fleury under pressure playing in Montreal. If you compare both goalies' personal record against the Habs, there's no contest.  If the Habs can't put 3 goals past Lehner before the end of regulation, you get the feeling it's not going to end well.  One goal isn't going to cut it.  So by the end of the second period, if the Habs only lead by one goal or remain scoreless, then you know what it portends.  I'm betting Game 6 goes to OT.

3. The whole buildup of hype and anticipaton by many Habs fans in Montreal of closing the series to coincide with St.-Jean-Baptiste Day celebrations give the sense of prematurely counting the chickens before they hatch.

4. The 'Mirroring Effect' of the Tampa-Islanders series.  Most folks won't notice it but how the results of each game in both series eerily mirror each other in tandem is more than coincidental.  Believe it or not, the Habs go up and down with Tampa.

5. The Kinot jinx in the other thread .  If disaster strikes, blame Kinot, not me :frech1:.

Like everyone else, I hope to end the series tonight :).  But if there is a Game 7, I just want to say I predicted it here first.

The games is played on the ice not on how we feel.  If it was based on how i felt Montreal would have been out after the leafs series .  Two teams battle it out, let the people better team win , with no inconsistent referee.

I agree ...hopefully the players will ignore the hoopla because Vegas has their backs against the wall and will want to play spoilers more than ever ...I also think Vegas putting in Lehner tonight and will give their team their best chance ...but ...who knows? ..we'll soon see ...it'll be a helluva game either way ....exiting time of year for sure

We have a lot going for us in this game.  Momentum, home ice, less pressure etc.  But i think the thing we may have more than them is desperation.

I know that sounds funny since its LV thats facing elimination but rememeber that Vegas is a team that has been here 3 of the last 4 years.  They are a team that should come back more or less the same next year.  They rely on veterans, yes, but most are in or around their prime. If they lose there will definitely be a sense of "well, we'll do it next year boys."

In montreal, its different.   This is the furthest Carey Price, Shea Weber, Jeff Petry and Brendan Gallagher have ever gone.  Thats 4 very high profile players who are just finally sniffing a chance at the SCF.   This team may very well not look the same next year, and they know it.

I think the boys will be motivated and we're going to see a very very strong game.   Bounces will play a factor as always but i feel like we're going to close it out tonight with a 2-1 or 3-1 win.

Not only the 4 guys you mentioned, but then you look at Staal and Perry, who almost certainly have to be wondering if this is their last chance to get this far in the post-season and go out on a high note. Or guys like Tatar, Danault, Armia, Merrill, and Gustafsson who are free agents and might be wondering whether they'll be playing for competitive teams next year. Or Byron, who was passed over on waivers several times and may be out of a job at some point. Or Allen or Lehkonen or Chiarot, who could end up on an expansion roster next season. There are plenty of guys who should be motivated here because their futures in hockey are uncertain at this point. I think we have enough guys in the locker room who understand how hard it is to get to this point for one reason or another and who aren't going to let this opportunity slip away without putting in their best effort. Even though we don't have the skill of the other teams left in the playoffs, we certainly have played hard and put in effort every game this post-season and it's paying dividends.

Some notes from practice:

- No line changes for the Habs practice-wise, although Evans has been cleared to play by team doctors. Unless there's a last-minute change a la Petry, he likely doesn't get in tonight but could be an option for a game 7. Right now, hard to find a guy to take out. As I've said, our worst forward recently has been Gallagher and it's unlikely they'd pull him given his role on the team.

- Lehner in the starter's net and expected to play. I think they've simply resigned themselves to Fleury not being able to keep it together under the pressure of playing in Montreal.

- Alex Tuch came out for practice, took a few shots, and left early. Reaves took his place for line rushes on the 3rd line, so Tuch could be out.

- Refs confirmed as being Sutherland and Furlatt again. Hopefully Chris Lee is sent packing and we don't see him again. It was a pleasure not having him in Canada this year.

Agree.  Guys like Romanov, Evans, Tatar - Id like to see play... but damned if i could tell you who i would take out.  All 4 lines are just balanced so well right now.  The defense, even though we're relying on 1-2 of the top 4 guys on the ice at all times, are just making it work.  Sucks for the extras but really nice spot for us to be in.

This actually surprises me.  I mean understand why they are doing it (if they play fleury and lose it will be very bad for PR if nothing else) but Lehner is not as good as Fleury and the team does not play as well in front if him.  If we can get a couple of PPs watch us make a bunch of cross-seam passes and beat him that way. He's not great at all on side to side stops. Sure he's huge but I think Fleury is the guy they should have stuck with (but i ain't complaining).

Tuch is a really frustrating player to play against so thats good news if he's out but honestly i think the habs can win no matter what.

I would actually be surprised to see Lee ref another habs game.  I dont think the NHL would do what they should (fire him) but i dont think they will risk the PR issues of having him in our series again.  After last night's controversies, he may not ref again this post season.  Interesting that we all said the NHL would love a Vegas - NYI series and Lee shows clear biases against Montreal and Tampa in his games...

Teams that go up 3 games to 2 historically win the series 80% of the time ... the Habs themselves are 89.7% successful in this situation over their history.

Montreal has an all-time record of 26-3 (.897) when leading 3-2 in a best-of-7 Stanley Cup Playoff series.

Teams that take a 3-2 lead in a best-of-seven playoff semifinals series are 68-16 (.810) to win that series.

I firmly believe we win tonight and for the first time since 1993 the Habs are in the finals.
