Power play lines at practice:

Perry  Caufield - Toffoli - Suzuki Petry (Gustafson taken off first unit.)

Staal, Armia - Gallagher - Anderson Weber

Looks like he was taken off both. Does that mean he'll be a scratch??

WE CAN AND WILL STAVE OFF ELIMINATION

Not ruling this out.  But only because the Tampa camp prefer to hoist the Stanley Cup back in their own building in front of their own fans.  Besides, it's also possible Brisebois and Cooper make a classy decision (with the acquiescence of their players) not to humiliate the Habs on home ice with a sweep.  Believe it or not, sweep or no sweep doesn't mean anything to Tampa. Tampa can well afford to throw a game because right now, they get to decide when and where to close the series.  The only way to prove this hypothesis is watch Tampa in the game to spot whether they "mysteriously" play differently from previous games i.e. make sloppy/lazy plays, uncharacteristic errors yet appear laid back about it. But they will keep the scoreline respectable to not make it too obvious.

Nonetheless, the Habs could make history by becoming the first finalist in the post-salary cap era and first in 23 years to be swept in a Stanley Cup Final.  They could also establish a new Stanley Cup Final record in terms of aggregate goals differential (5-14 at the moment).

Desperation brings out the best hockey from any team. We can only wait to find out which Habs team show up and whether they'll be facing a merciful or relentless Tampa opponent.  But for the fans in the Bell Centre, the Stanley Cup will be in the building and they could get to see it with their own eyes to make it worth their ticket prices.

Ya know, I heard this last night from someone, that TB would prefer to end it in front of their own 15,000 or so fans. Reason being that at the Bell, they would only have, what, 100-250 fans, ( "maybe"?) .

Oh, BTW, you have the dubious distinction of being added to my "list". Most of management are, so you are in an exclusive "club".  :frech1:

No Team goes out with the intent to lose - they are up by 3 , they should come out with the mind set to end it tonight or they could come out flat .

I agree that its unlikely they 'try' to lose just so they can win at home, or 'spare' us the shame of a sweep.  However, I think their motivation could be lower simply because they are in the drivers seat.   I think we will win this one actually.

IMO if changes were going to be made they should have been done last game not in the do or die game

Inserting Alexander Romanov and Brett Kulak — and sitting Erik Gustafsson and Jon Merrill — will bring more “dynamic skaters” on the Habs’ back end, Ducharme believes.

That is great news! I'm sad to hear JK is sitting, and not Staal, though. Evans in is a positive, though. Go Habs Go!

I agree that bringing in Evans is good.  JK out is not great.   As for Staal, we have to remember that this is a business, yes, but the are humans too.  Staal could be playing the last 1 - 4 games of his career.   Its not like you're taking him out to bring in McDavid.  Evans is a nice burst of energy but Evans vs Staal (or JK) probably wont change the outcome of the game, its more a tweak, so...I can understand why they want to give guys like Staal & Perry their games.

This is perhaps the stupidest thing I have seen on this forum! the idea that a team would lose one in the cup final to win it at home ..........sad!

From the Tampa Bay Times

"Tampa Mayor Jane Castor wants Lightning to clinch on home ice."
