“It’s a shock. I never saw this coming. I worked with him for eight years, I was at the arena from early morning to early afternoon, and I never perceived anything — drugs, alcohol, medication. He always worked hard and focused on his training. Even his teammates, even the ones who were closest to him, never noticed anything. I was certain that it was not an addiction problem. It was a total surprise.”

“He often had mood swings. He had bad moods and sometimes he didn’t know why, but I always saw this as part of his personality. Sometimes he needed to be cheered up and reminded to have fun — I’d tell him ‘Life is good, you play hockey for a living, you’re well paid, you have a nice family,’ and that would make him smile again.

“Now he’s clearly taken control of the situation and he’ll emerge better from this. It will definitely help him advance in his career and maybe appreciate his life more.”

My bad I missed that update. Thanks for sharing.

One fans favourites.

1. Shane Wright.

2. Matthew Savoie
3. Conor Geekie
4. Joakim Kemell
5. Simon Nemec

These all look like good picks!

Wright is in a league of his own, obviously but Id actually put Miroshnicheko (Sp?) and Kemell as the next two BPA - they are both wingers though.   Cooley and Geekie are good potential top 6 centres but do we reach that far back with a top 3 pick? Slavosky also looks like a good quality scoring winger.  Im surprised you're that high on Nemec & Savoie - both arent  even considered top 10 picks by most scouts - what do you like about them over some of other guys or is it just positional?

My big concern is that after Wright there arent a ton of obvious offensive top line centres.  You either have elite scoring wingers or more like solid 2nd line centres.  Both would be fine but what would transform this team immediately would be an elite #1 centre.   A player like Suzuki as your #2 is a massive luxury that only a handful of NHL teams can boast.   Could we be competitive with Suzuki - Geekie - Poehling - Dvorak - Evans ?  Yes.  But imagine if nick could play one line back. Watch out.

Now that Bergevin has been fired I can finally return to this forum. (It has been a long wait indeed).

Hello to ALL of you again!

I have renewed faith and hope that our team will be run more professionally and will be modernized to today's NHL with Mr. Gorton at the helm.

Hopefully Mr. Molson gives him free reign to pick his GM.

Also, I think that if we tank, it makes more sense than hoping for futility this season or next.

Agree that reaching for a Centre like we did with KK (imo) is a tough call should we not land Wright. The theory says you take BAP as a trading tip for the future, which imo is a winger Kemell, and who I’ve said again imo has the capability to be elite.
im not sure the other centers in this draft have that elite level. Savoie and Geekie (who offers size) play on a very strong Winnipeg Ice WHL team which may cover up their flaws.
Good thing we have a few months to evaluate draft picks for 2022

It's a rebuild ...I have no problem with that ...I don't care if Ducharme finishes the season or not at the moment because I'm more interested in how Gorton will deal players  and who he brings in to replace Bergevin as well as  a head scout to replace Timmins ....I'm sure he's got people in mind  ...it's not he just fell off the turnip truck  ....play the kids

Agreed with you regarding Ducharme staying on as coach for this season AND hopefully next season too LOL. (If a rebuild is the option being considered).

It can only help the tank keeping Mr. Ducharme on (which we as fans should support) and allow Mr. Gorton to get some good picks/prospects in the meantime to build up our team and modernize it to today's NHL standards.
