So after another historic choke-job by the leafs in the first round this year, their fans have this to look forward to at the draft:

picks #57, 153 and 185.

Thats it.

That is their entire draft.  :4224:

Meanwhile, we have 11.   5 of them are in the top 100.  I assume we might trade a couple but i think it safe to say we have a much better chance of draft an NHL player (or three) vs the leafs.

NHL.com.  Seattle has dealt Tyler Pitlick to Calgary for a fourth round choice in 2022.

perhaps the beginning of some unloading - I certainly wish with excess LD that Seattle selected that MB made a pitch for Dunn but that ship has sailed

Rasmus Ristolainen traded from Buffalo to the flyers

in exchange for the first round pick (13th overall) in the 2021 NHL Draft, a second round pick in the 2023 NHL Draft and defenseman Robert Hagg

Seems kinda steep

I think a lot of people overvalue him.   Considering Philly just dumped Ghost + 2nd + 7th... in the last 24 hrs they traded:

Ghostibehere
Robert Hagg
1st round pick
Two 2nd round picks
7th round pick

for

Rasmus Ristolainen
Future considerations

Im kind of glad we didnt get him. Even though he's very skilled, I do think his defensive flaws would be magnified here & I dont think it would have been a great fit.

Agreed, that's just ridiculous. Ristolainen is certainly better than Ghostibehere but they essentially have the same flaw, i.e. playing sound defense and keeping the puck out of their own net. Good trade for Buffalo I'd say, and the Ghostibehere trade in itself is still a big question mark for me. Unless I'm missing something, I just don't understand how that's the best deal they could have gotten around the entire league.
