Opening night is close, but the Seattle Kraken debut might be hampered with five players in COVID-19 protocols. News of Jared McCann, Joonas Donskoi, Calle Jarnkrok, Jamie Oleksiak and Marcus Johansson broke on Monday afternoon. It is not confirmed that they are out but expected. Jarnkrok had been in protocol since last week while the others were announced on Monday. Seattle general manager Ron Francis said the entire roster got vaccinated at the beginning of training camp. All the players missed the final practice before the team departed to face the Vegas Golden Knights.

Wonder what kind of provisions the league made, as I'm sure this is unexpected, with vaccinations and all.

On Monday, October 11th, the Seattle Kraken captain was named. On the day before opening night, Seattle announced Mark Giordano would serve as their captain heading into the inaugural campaign. To serve alongside him, the franchise selected Jordan Eberle, Yanni Gourde, Adam Larsson, and Jaden Schwartz as alternate captains.

Nicklas Backstrom said his injured left hip is improving, but the center hasn't resumed skating yet and could miss the Capitals' regular-season opener against the Rangers on Oct. 13, 2021.

Washington Capitals star Nicklas Backstrom has been assigned to the injured non-roster list as NHL teams finalize their initial 23-man rosters for the season.

Backstrom did not take the ice during training camp with a lingering hip issue that was a carry-over from last season.

Ok this is hockey related but also covid related .
Mr. Evander Kane, is now under investigation for providing a fake proof of vaccination.  Ladies and gentleman , here is another dumb@ss🤦‍♂️

The San Jose Sharks  announced their 23-man roster to start the 2021-22 season and Evander Kane is not on it.  Kane "is considered a non-roster player pending completion of the NHL's investigation," the team said in a statement.  Kane was away from the team during training camp while the NHL investigates him for two separate allegations.  The first stems from "past behaviour" allegations made by his wife, Deanna Kane, during the couple's divorce proceedings. The second involves allegations he used a fake COVID-19 vaccination card. In September the NHL cleared Kane of any wrongdoing after Deanna Kane accused him of gambling on NHL games.

The 30-year-old led the Sharks in scoring last season with 22 goals and 49 points in 56 games.

Vancouver Canucks GM Jim Benning said that forward Brock Boeser will be out for the remainder of the pre-season and they are hopeful that he’ll be ready for the start of the regular season.

The Vancouver Canucks have announced that star winger Brock Boeser will begin the season on injured reserve.

Details about Boeser's injury have not been disclosed. On Oct. 1, head coach Travis Green declared Boeser would miss "about a week" and he returned to the ice Oct. 9. The Canucks will need to designate someone off their 23-man roster before activating Boeser.

Veteran forward Brandon Sutter will be unavailable to start the season for the Vancouver Canucks. The news was shared by general manager Jim Benning earlier today. Sutter has been battling a shoulder injury since the end of last season and is still dealing with fatigue.

Vancouver Canucks general manager Jim Benning says forward Brandon Sutter is still experiencing COVID-19 symptoms seven months after the virus swept through the team.

Benning says the veteran forward is "going to be out a while" and that there is no timeline for his return.  "He's experiencing some of the symptoms of the COVID. I guess they call it being a long hauler," the GM said on Monday. "He still has some issues he's working through with that. "So once he's feeling better, the first step for him is to get feeling better and then once he's healthy enough and feeling better, he'll start working out and get back out on the ice." Benning added that Sutter does not have myocarditis, a condition that causes heart inflammation and has been associated with COVID-19. Sportsnet's Iain MacIntyre says Sutter's fatigue only became debilitating by mid-August.

The Edmonton Oilers made a flurry of moves as they set their initial 23-man roster for the season ahead of the league's roster deadline.  Kyle Turris and William Lagesson cleared waivers as Turris was loaned to the AHL's Bakersfield Condors and Lagesson was placed on injured reserve. The team also recalled Philip Broberg as they will carry eight defencemen to start the season.  Josh Archibald, Dylan Holloway and Dmitri Samorukov were assigned to the injured non-roster list while Oscar Klefbom and Alex Stalock were placed on long-term injured reserve. Archibald was ruled out indefinitely with the heart condition myocarditis. It is the same condition that has Alex Stalock out for the season after the goaltender tested positive for COVID-19.

Colorado Avalanche general manager Joe Sakic announced today that team captain, Nathan MacKinnon, has tested positive for Covid-19. The positive test prevents MacKinnon from playing in tomorrow’s season opener, and possibly Saturday night’s game as well.

Max Pacioretty scored twice and the Vegas Golden Knights spoiled the Seattle Kraken's debut with a 4-3 win on Tuesday night.

Vegas, which made its league debut four years ago, held off a rally from the NHL’s latest addition in what turned out to be a scrappy effort from the Kraken.

Seattle erased a 3-0 deficit and tied the game, but Chandler Stephenson’s goal midway through the third period held up.

My all-time favourite player. He was so exciting to watch!  Congrats Guy!!!
