Unfortunately, it's built into the culture that you can motivate players by yelling at them and that you build toughness by doing so. A lot of people just buy into the mentality that it's acceptable because it's sports. Same culture behind fighting in hockey, playing hurt, and so on. It's the Don Cherry mindset. Don't know what Murray did, but wouldn't be surprised if these types of stories keep coming out. You look in our own barn at the 24 Habs documentary and you saw Therrien just lambasting players at times and talking about making Subban a better person and so on, and I absolutely wouldn't be surprise to find out Therrien was verbally abusive to players and crossed lines. Vigneault's been accused of crossing lines already. Mike Babcock apparently is showing little to no remorse over how he treated players and thinks his way made Marner a better player. The culture needs to change from the top, but you have guys like Bettman and Daly and Campbell in place who care only about money and don't give a care about player safety. Exactly! These people need to be held accountable. This abuse has gone on for far too long. Don't feel sorry for any of them.
electron58
When Arizona Coyotes and Seattle Kraken met last Saturday, little did anyone know that goalie Scott Wedgewood would be setting a record. To be clear, he wasn’t even scheduled to play since he had just been picked up on waivers a couple of days prior. Head coach Andre Tourigny wanted him to at least get to practice with the team, so he started Karel Vejmelka. Well, that didn’t work out too well as Vejmelka surrendered two quick goals just 59 seconds into the game. Enter Scott Wedgewood. First of all, the history behind Wedgewood’s record is pertinent here. On October 30, 2017 he was on the Coyotes roster and started the game in net. The 2017-18 Arizona Coyotes had started the season in exactly the same fashion as the current season going 0-10-1. Wedgewood stopped 28 of 31 shots headed his way. The game went into overtime before Alex Goligoski scored with 15 seconds remaining in overtime. Scott Wedgewood got the win and ended the horrid losing streak at 11 games. His statistics for 2017-18 weren’t that impressive. Just a 5-9-4 record with a .893 save percentage and a 3.45 goals-against-average. On February 21, 2018, the Coyotes dealt Wedgewood along with forward Tobias Rieder to the Los Angeles Kings in exchange for goalie Darcy Kuemper. Kuemper was unimpressive in the 10 games he played in that first year in Arizona. But over the next three seasons he sparkled in between the pipes for the Yotes. He collected a 55-48-15 record with a .920 save percentage and a 2.43 GAA. Arizona definitely won that trade. Wait, it Gets More Interesting… So, not only did Wedgewood duplicate his feat of ending an 11-game losing skid by the Coyotes in his return back to Arizona, but there are other bizarre coincidences too. By winning the game Saturday Wedgewood helped Tourigny gain his first NHL victory behind the bench. Guess what? He did the exact same thing back in 2017 when Rick Tocchet won his first NHL game as a head coach! Buckle up, there’s more. The coach of the Philadelphia Flyers back in 2017 was Dave Hakstol. And, who do you think was behind the Kraken bench on Saturday night? Yep, Dave Hakstol. Strange, huh? Very strange. The odds of these circumstances happening again are astronomical. That’s why this freaky record will stand forever.

electron58
On 10/23/2021 at 11:27 AM, electron58 said: The U.S. Center for SafeSport has opened up an investigation into current Minnesota Wild general manager Bill Guerin's potential role in an alleged sexual assault cover-up, according to Rick Westhead of TSN. Erin Skalde, and her husband, Jarrod — who was an assistant coach for the Pittsburgh Penguins’ American Hockey League affiliate in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, alleged in a lawsuit that former AHL Penguins head coach Clark Donatelli sexually assaulted her while the three were in a car in Providence, Rhode Island, on a road trip in November of 2018. The lawsuit was filed against the Penguins in November of 2020. Jarrod filed the lawsuit after being fired by the Penguins in May of 2020. He suggests that the team used COVID-19 cuts as an excuse to terminate his contract, and that the real reason had to do with his complaints against Donatelli. Seven months after filing the suit, Jarrod claimed that then-Penguins assistant general manager Bill Guerin told him not to speak of the alleged assault when it was brought to the latter's attention at the 2019 NHL Draft. Former minor-league coach Jarrod Skalde and his wife, Erin, have reached a settlement with the Pittsburgh Penguins in connection to sexual assault allegations levied against former American Hockey League coach Clark Donatelli.
