Boston Bruins forward Brad Marchand will miss Saturday's game against the Winnipeg Jets due to an upper-body injury.

Actually, just watching the hit by Hathaway, and I don't like Marchand, but it was a dirty hit from behind. Definitely suspendable.

The San Jose Sharks AHL affiliate, San Jose Barracuda, has suspended player Krystof Hrabik. The forward also received a 30 game suspension from the AHL due to his racist actions toward Tuscon Roadrunners forward Boko Imama. Hrabik reportedly made monkey-like movements toward Imama, a Black player. It's about time a league reacts with conviction!

The Chicago Blackhawks placed forward Jujhar Khaira and defenseman Riley Stillman on injured reserve on Saturday.  Khaira is dealing with a lower back issue. Stillman left Friday night's 5-1 loss to Minnesota with a left shoulder injury.  The move for Khaira, who has three goals and no assists in his first season with Chicago, was made retroactive to Monday.  The Blackhawks also added forward Brett Connolly to the active roster. Goaltender Cale Morris and defenseman Wyatt Kalynuk were recalled from Rockford of the American Hockey League and assigned to the taxi squad. Forward Mike Hardman was sent down to Rockford.

Emilie Castonguay was named the first woman assistant general manager of the Vancouver Canucks on Monday.

Wasn't she interviewed for the Habs?  I  would have thought she would have been on the short list for AGM. Surprised the Habs haven't named one yet. Basically,  Rutherford snatched her up,  and filled the AGM job first,  before the GM job. Pretty sneaky I'd say. And really,  who fills the AGM job before the GM job? You would think that the GM would have a say.

Pittsburgh Penguins forward Teddy Blueger will miss 6-to-8 weeks after having surgery to repair a fractured jaw.  Blueger was injured when Winnipeg’s Brenden Dillon hit him into the glass on Sunday in the first period of Pittsburgh’s 3-2 shootout victory over the Jets.  Blueger left a trail of blood as he skated slowly from behind the Winnipeg net to the Penguins’ bench. The game was delayed several minutes while crews cleaned up the ice.

NHL.com.  Ottawa forward Drake Batherson will miss the All Star game with an injured after a goalie hit.

A little clarity.

The play Batherson was injured on happened in the first period against Buffalo. After Sabres goaltender Aaron Dell settled the puck behind the net for defenceman Jake McCabe to pick up, the netminder shielded McCabe as Batherson came chasing around the net. Dell then proceeded to elbow Batherson, sending him awkwardly feet first into the boards.  Batherson stayed on the ice in visible distress before leaving to go to the dressing room.

“Drake looks like he’s gonna be [out] a lot longer,” Smith said. “Kid has a chance to go to his first All-Star game, it’s a bad play by the goalie. He’s done it before. We’ve seen all the replays. Any other player in the game that does that, you know, you have to go out and face the music. Certainly the league will look at whatever. But it’s a bad play.”
