Our last meaningless game before our B2B home openers for Leafs and Sabres. The situation has changed with the Price news. I know Allen will likely get the start but i would really like to see one more game out of Primeau. Not crazy about the waiver pick up guy with his NHL stats. Time to give the kid a bit of NHL experience IMO.

I haven’t seen any preseason games. Even though its exhibition hockey, how have our current goalies looked?

Yeah not great stats for sure. 25 NHL games, 3.20 gaa.  He doesnt even have great numbers in the AHL - last year his save percentage was .898 yikes.  But he was taken 77th overall... you have to wonder if Burke or some of our scouts think there's potential there or if it was simply a cheap body for the minors...

I agree seeing Primeau again would be good although TBH he doesnt look NHL ready to me yet.

From the little i've seen,,, nobody has looked great other then Allen when he played a half game. Primeau looked all right the last time i saw him but he had one shaky game too.

Goalies in particular are tough to gauge in pre-season because the risk of groin pulls or tweaks are so high when they are just getting back into game shape that a guy - especially one who thinks his job is safe - will often move slower and intentionally not over-extend.

I have faith Allen will be good. I just worry we're going to tire him out because he's a different goalie when you ask him to play too much or in the starter's role.

The guy made some nice saves but he certainly doesn't look like a guy that will steal you any games. Maybe there's another level to his game we're not aware of but i don't see him as anything other then a 3rd string guy.

Primeau needs a stretch of NHL games to see what he's all about and this may be the ideal situation to get that assessment of him.

That would be my biggest fear too. Allen is a good goalie but i see him more as a supporting starter rather then the main guy. The D in front of him i suspect will struggle, leading to tons of shots, so i see a heavy workload. We start with a B2B right off the bat and i would hope he doesn't get both starts.

The one it factor is our coaching staff.

We were all frustrated and upset with a lot of the moves they made last regular season but had to be reminded that DD had virtually zero practices with his new team after relieving Julien and then playing all those games in such a short time.

1 week off = a week of implementing his 'plan' and we went all they way to the cup final.  Im not saying we necessarily have the tools to make this happen but I am very curious to see what DD & co. try to come up with based on our current roster.

I dont think they will just roll out the same system we played before. Maybe he's got some magic up his sleeves.   We're going to need it.
