With the season over, time to look back at how teams did relative to what I thought would happen... in the East, 7 of the 8 teams that made the playoffs were ones I thought would make it, and the one that made it which I hadn't predicted was the team I had next in line to make it anyways, so no real surprises for me in terms of over-achievers. The Isles were, however, a team that I thought would build upon their success last year and they really just disappointed. Among non-playoff teams, I had the Habs as regressing after benefiting from their all-Canadian division a year ago, but the injuries piled on and they clearly under-performed as well.

Out West, I had 5 of 8 playoff teams correct, missing on Vegas, Winnipeg, and Chicago being in. Vegas was a team I had winning their division, and they were easily the biggest under-performers out there. In fact, they were the 3rd of 4 semi-finalists last year to outright miss the playoffs last year, so it's quite possible the extended season last year and extremely short summer for those teams (Vegas, Habs, Isles) hurt them more than it hurt others. I did have the Kings on the cusp of the playoffs and I had Seattle out despite a lot of experts thinking they would re-produce Vegas' run and make it in, but I under-estimated both Minnesota and Nashville.

In my final 4, I had Car over Fla and Col over Edm, with Col taking Car down for the Cup, and frankly, I think there are still odds of that happening. Will post my updated playoff predictions below...
