Hate to be a downer but I saw this

Their last win in San Jose was Nov 23, 1999.

If we play them, like the last game we played against them, then nothing will change. Is it just my view?  or have the Habs played some real stinkers? Where's the heart? Where's the passion? Where's the professionalism? Nevermind the grit.  It ain't there.  :(

Yup, to quote Justin Blades over at HEOTP:
"The Y2K bug was was the biggest threat the last time Montreal earned a victory in the San Jose Sharks’ home arena."

Ooff.

Well... I suppose we're due for a win then, hmm?  (probably not)

Here's the thing, this is not a 1-6 team. We look horrendous out there but we should not look this bad. We probably aren't much better than say 4-3 or 3-4 (neither of which probably gets you in the playoffs) but we're absolutely due for a win.

That said, the whole team is slumping bad.  Im not sure how they get out of that slump. MB hasn't built a very good team but they aren't this bad. DD may be in over his head but the players aren't playing his system.   Ultimately its going to come down to the players.  Someone - or better, a few people need to step up.  We need some early goals we need a string of wins we need... something.

I have a feeling that as soon as Nick Suzuki's line gets it going we'll be doing much better.  That's not to single out nick - aside from Drouin, everyone has been massively underachieving, but if we can just get Nick's line going i think the rest will fall into place.   A lot of pressure for a pretty young kid.

I would agree that I think we're a better team than our record indicates. However, maybe I also haven't considered how important players like Price, Weber, Danault, Perry, and Kotkaniemi were to this team's functioning last year.

Maybe we are a 1-6 team. Or well... that would be absurdly bad. But maybe we are worse than 4-3 or 3-4.

With the exception of Gallagher, we essentially lost the team‘s entire leadership group in Price, Weber, Danault, and Perry, which is a huge factor for our slow start in my opinion. I know that not everyone sees it this way but I think leadership is very important in team sports, especially for younger players who need someone to guide them and look up to, and there’s no denying that these guys have left a pretty big void. We shouldn’t be as bad as our record indicates but seeing the group struggling shouldn’t be a surprise. MB has aggravated the issue with his moves, or rather lack thereof.

I stopped in to visit a class in sociology for 15 minutes once at college and the lesson was how redheads get it worse than anyone. I think we need a redhead to prove the case either way. In any event we ain't doin too great.

It definitely looks like we are a rudderless team right now.

So frustrating, on paper I feel like the lines look good and should be winning SOME games.  That said, as far as defense, I don't love Romanov paired with Savard. Mainly because I'm not impressed at all with Savards play (and general effort) and I think it can attribute toward Romanov not developing as needed/projected. At least that is how I see it right now.

Yeah. There's just no rhythm.  I think that Price being out doesnt help - not because Allen is a terrible goalie but i think the team buys into the "Carey is back there" mentality (even if its a bit false these days) and play looser.  Now they are all trying to do more than they probably should which is completely killing the offense.   This isnt a case of nobody trying, this is more about guys trying too hard.  Every game they try to do more, tighten up on their sticks and do worse.  Its a vicious circle/pattern.

No question Savard hasnt looked great.   Romanov has also looked bad as has most of our defense... actually, all of our defense.  We need at least one pair to look good but we're just not getting that from any of them. Im not sure any combination will work well but hopefully they find soemthing that at least gives us a chance.

San Hose' eh?

Shark food again probably.

Ugg.  I still have hope but it will dwindle fast if they get an early goal.
